Pictures from my Phone & Weekly Distractions

Cathie: Why do you always say "not that I know what that means, Cathie" on your blog?

Eli: I'm covering myself so I don't get in trouble since I know you read Stranger.

Cathie: Well I'll have you know I'm actually much rougher around the edges than you think. I smoked a cigarette once when I was ten!

Eli: WHAT?! You bad ass!

And now, your Pictures & Distractions:
Hiking with good company in Salt Lake City.

Biking on top of the world near Big Mountain summit.

I ran out of road, eventually.

~It Just Gets Stranger

  1. I so want to bike with you sometime.

  2. Reading the comments, on the YouTube video, no one knows who Shelly Duval is!

In addition to being in the Shining, she did a bunch of fairy-tale adaptions in the 80s. The fairy-tale adaptions were much closer to the original Grimm/Anderson tales than Disney: Little mermaid turned into sea-foam at the end, the prince in Rapunzel goes blind, etc...

I flippin grew up on Faerie Tale Theatre! Mom would borrow the DVDs from our library, oh the memories!

    1. We would watch those fairy tale movies during library time at my elementary school. Talk about a memory from the past coming out of nowhere!

    2. OLIVE OIL!!!!!

    3. I LOVED the Shelley Duvall remix. SOOO worth the time-waste! And of course, in that One Moment as Olive Oyl, I got heartbroken over Robin Williams again.

The whiskers in wigs video was funny, too, but for entirely different reasons.

  3. Totally triggered by that snowbank blocked road pic. 'Scuse me why I curl up in the fetal position and cry quietly. Running into those snowbanks is the stuff of nightmares. It's like someone plowed it to there and vanished. Or was eaten by angry bears. Or moose. Or hungry stragglers from the Donner party. WHERE ARE THEY? Hence why I live in Arizona now. And not in the part that has snowbanks, thankyouverymuch.

  4. I got the whole box set of Faerie Tale Theater for my birthday about 10 years ago. Some creepy stuff, but full of childhood memories!

  5. I got the whole box set of Faerie Tale theater stuff for my birthday s few yreas ago. Creepy stuff, but fun to rewatch with my kids now. Along with Labyrinth, the Dark Crystal....

  6. My fingers are overly tired from having to click extra times since your post is truncated in my reader... Could we please switch that back? I will happily pay for this change, in the currency of your choice (pictures of cats, I'm assuming?).

From a concerned citizen with tired fingers

    1. It is also truncated in my reader now... Meaning I have to exit my reader to read your posts in their entirety :/

    2. Hmmm. I haven't done anything different. I'm not totally sure what you mean. If anyone can direct me, I'm all ears.

    3. I'm with you, Eli. I don't understand what this request is.

    4. I figured it out. I'll be able to fix it, but it will probably take a few days. Thanks in advance for your patience.
